What is HIIT?
HIIT = High Intensity Interval Training
Effective energy use – HIIT uses a system that alternates between work hard / high intensity anaerobic workouts with short resting or less intense recovery periods.
That means you burn more fat and calories in the 24 hours after a HIIT workout than you do after, say, a steady-pace run.
What are the benefits of HIIT?
HIIT training has been shown to improve:
• aerobic and anaerobic fitness
• blood pressure
• cardiovascular health
• insulin sensitivity (which helps the exercising muscles more readily use glucose for fuel to make energy)
• cholesterol profiles
• abdominal fat and body weight while maintaining muscle mass
